Need to review ceasefire rules: Gen Shah
Kohima, May 17: Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt General Z.U.Shah has stressed on the need for a review of the ceasefire ground rules, agreed with the Centre and the NSCN factions.
Talking to newsmen here yesterday, Gen Shah pointed out that the NSCN cadres were cashing in on the loopholes in the rules.
He said, '' The main thrust of the security forces is to keep away the cadres from the local population. '' Gen Shah also ruled out any Bhutan-type operation in Myanmar and Bangladesh to flush out the Northeast ultras camping in those countries.
He said, '' The Army is trying to help its Myanmar counterpart to remain operational and strengthen the bilateral ties as majority of Northeast ultras are holed up there. ''
