LS adjourned sine die 5 days ahead of schedule
New Delhi, May 17: The Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die today, five days ahead of schedule soon after Finance Minister P. Chidambaram replied to the debate on price rise under Rule 193.
The second phase of the Budget Session of Parliament was earlier scheduled till May 22.
The Budget Session, which began on February 23, was marked by passing of the General Budget, Finance Bill, Railway Budget and Appropriation Bills.
The Session, spread over two phases with a recess in between, saw several adjournments on issues like Nandigram police firing and Government policy on SEZ and debate on price rise. The case related to human trafficking after the arrest of BJP MP Babubhai Katara became a matter of concern compelling the Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to constitute an 11-member Committee to define guidelines for the conduct of the MPs.
While noting that the Session was able to transact several finance business, the Speaker expressed his displeasure over the loss of 73 hours of business of the House due to adjournments.
