Left's caution to UPA on anti-people policies
Vijayawada, May 17: The Andhra Pradesh unit of the CPI has said that the Left parties would not support the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre if it continued with its ''anti-people'' policies.
Speaking at a public meeting here last night, the party's Central Secretariat member Suravaram Sudhakara Reddy said the CPI would not remain quiet if the UPA government continued with its policies which were detrimental to the interest of the common man.
''The state government cannot hinder the land struggle launched by our party,'' he said and criticised the statement of Home Minister K Jana Reddy for comparing the Left with the Naxals.
Mr Reddy said as long as the state government failed to implement land reforms, there was scope for Left's extremism and the CPI would continue to distribute lands.
