Kerala to host Speakers meet, Somnath to inaugurate

Thiruvananthapuram, May 17 (UNI) About 320 delegates, including Speakers, Deputy Speakers and other officials from 30 legislative Assemblies in the country, will participate in the 72nd All India Conference of Speakers to be held here from May 24 to 28.

Kerala Assembly Speaker K Radhakrishnan told newspersons today that Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterje would formally inaugurate the conference on May 25.

Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan will inaugurate a symposium on 'Ethics in public life' on May 27.

Kerala will be hosting the meet for the third time, he said, adding the conference was organised this time coinciding with the Golden Jubilee year of the state Assembly.

The conference would begin on May 24 with a meeting of legislative secretaries.

During the meet, various issues concerning Parliament and the state Assemblies would be discussed, he added.
