Srinagar, May 17 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir government sanctioned the release of six per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) in favour of its employees and pensioners with effect from January this year.

This decision was taken in the Cabinet which met here today under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.

The increase in the total DA will be from 29 per cent to 35 per cent. This will also apply to IAS officers working in the state.

The employees and the pensioners will be paid the DA installment arrears in cash.

The Cabinet also sanctioned Sub-Treasuries at Boniyar (Baramulla), Lar (Ganderbal), Devsar (Anantnag) and Tangste block Durbak, Leh.

The Cabinet also approved recommendations of Cabinet Sub-Committee regarding creation of new administrative units.

Meanwhile, the Civil Secretariat Non-Gazetted Employees Union has hailed the decision of government to release six per cent DA installment in their favour and pensioners with effect from January 2007.
