India's First IT finishing school to start functioning from June 3

Bangalore, May 17 (UNI) India's first IT finishing School located at Mysore will start functioning from June three, Karnataka IT, BT Secretary M N Vidyashankar said today.

Speaking at the inauguration of two-day EU-ICT Workshop organised by Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) here, he said that the recruitment of first batch of 5,000 students would start from June three and 35,000 students would be trained by 2009.

He said that similar School with a intake of 10,000 students initially, would start functioning in Bangalore from June 26.

Mr Vidyashankar said establishment of such schools was felt necessary to meet the needs of IT companies since only 35 per cent of the Engineering graduates were recruited at present. "We have to look at 75 per cent recruitment level and hence the school was established to make them find jobs" he said adding that the syllabus would be tailor made according to requirement of the IT companies.

He said that by 2008 the demand for IT manpower was expected at 200,000 including 90,000 Managers are required. Four to five companies are set up in Bangalore every week with numbering 250 in a year. Seventy eight per cent of IT Companies are located in Karnataka and in Bangalore alone there are 1790 IT companies functioning.

He said that to ensure development of IT in Tier II cities, it was proposed to establish J-Soft Solutions in Bellary and Hubli. The Bellary Unit would start functioning on June 10.

Mr Vidyashankar said that besides IT and BT, Karnataka would attract world attention shortly with proposed establishment of Nano City in Bangalore.
