Groundswell in favour of PDP in J
Srinagar, May 17 (UNI) Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today expressed satisfaction over the rising public support for the political and development agenda of his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying there was a groundswell in favour of his party both in rural and urban areas of the state.
Addressing new entrants in the party-fold here, he said even as some elements were vitiating the atmosphere and spreading canards among public by resorting to flimsy and false criticism, the people acknowledge that the PDP has stood the test by keeping its word in all circumstances and situations.
Mr Sayeed appreciated the people for their resilience and wakening and exuded confidence in their wisdom to contribute to positive and value-based politics in the state.
The PDP patron said his party has charted out a course to bring the people out of morass and was committed to strengthening the genuine political process in the state, so that those thriving on manipulation and sponsorship get isolated from the mainstream.
He said this has been his ardent desire that people of the state were provided with an atmosphere where they could give full expression to views without fear.
The former Union Home Minister said the people of the state wish to enjoy the fruits of democracy and the PDP could rightly claim to have made its contribution in that direction.
Mr Sayeed assured the party workers that he would not only take care of the interests of state in general but also make the genuine efforts to protect the interests of every single citizen.
