Government plans to buy NVD for forces

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) The Defence Forces proposed to acquire Night Vision Devices (NVD) to enhance night fighting capabilities, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Defence Minister A K Antony, in a written reply, said the acquisitions were proposed to be made through floating of Global Request for Proposals/Foreign Military sales route.

The evaluation/ trials were in progress in some of the cases, he said, adding that divulging the details in this regard on the floor of the House would not be in the interest of national security.

Responding to another question, the Defence Minister said the plans for upgradation of Mirage 2000 aircraft have not yet been finalised.
