Government for creating 'enabling' environment for VOs
New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) To stimulate and create an enabling environment for voluntary organisations (VOs) the government today approved a national policy that would enable them to legitimately mobilise finances.
The move would also entail the government to work with the voluntary sector.
The move would also encourage VOs to adopt transparent and accountable systems of governance and management.
This would enable VOs to legitmately mobilise the necessary financial resources from India and abroad, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said after the Cabinet meeting.
Speaking to reporters he said the policy has six parts, preamble, scope of the policy, objectives, establishing and enabling environment, partnership in development and strengthening the voluntary sector.
''The National policy on voluntary sector aims to provide an enabling environment for the voluntary sector and also make it accountable so that VOs can play their constructive role in development activities effectively,'' he said.
