Fund scam slur on official, MNF leaders
Aizawl, May 17 (UNI) People's Rights to Information and Development Implementing Society of Mizoram(PRIDISM) president Vanlalruata has filed an FIR alleging the involvement of some ministers in fund scam.
In the FIR filed yesterday, Mr Vanlalruata alleged that former Tuipang BDO L Rinsanga Colney and some MNF leaders, including minister Dr R Lalthangliana, were involved in the embezzlement of public money amounting to Rs 24,52,278.
The FIR stated that the misappropriation of funds was revealed by Vanengmawia, who succeeded L Rinsanga as Tuipang BDO, in his letter dated March 7, 2007, to the Rural Development director.
A copy of the letter was enclosed with the FIR which provided the 'List of Cash Diversion' during the period of L Rinsanga Colney during February 2007 in the presence of F B Muana and B Phillip, LDC and cashier of the BDO office respectively.
The list of names to whom the money was allegedly distributed included minister Dr Lalthangliana, MLA P P Thawlla, ex-MLA KT Rokhaw, MLA Thaliana, few officials and MNF unit and block leaders of Tuipang.
The letter alleged that the diverted money was mainly used for the purpose of election to local bodies during 2005.
The FIR asked for appropriate action under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the ''culprits''.
