Five-member gang rob two houses
Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh, May 17 (UNI) A five-member gang robbed Rs 2.5 lakhs of cash, gold and silver from two houses in the Hanuman Nagar of Devarakonda town in this district during the wee hours today.
District Superintendent of Police Vijaya Kumar said the gang gained entry into the house of a local school headmaster Jagapati Rao, and his family members had been threatened with knives and decamped with gold and mobile phones. The gang also took away the gold and mobile phone of his married daughter, who had come to his house for a marriage function.
He said the gang then entered the house of a businessman Narasimha by removing a grill on the window and decamped with Rs 2.5 lakhs in cash and hundred tolas of silver.
Narasimha told police that the money and the silver were kept in his custody by his friend and businessman Mahender Reddy as his family was leaving the town.
