Fishermen hold demo in Pondy

Puducherry, May 17 (UNI) Fishermen organisations from Tamil Nadu along with those here today observed a fast near the Singaravelar Statue to press the demands of the Puducherry fishermen.

The Puduherry fishermen were demanding among other things the constitution of a welfare board for fishermen here and nominated legislator status to one from the fishing community.

The Tamil Nadu fishermen associations joined the agitation to epxress their solidarity.
