Dr Kalam leaves for Delhi
Kolkata, May 17 (UNI) President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam left here tonight for New Delhi after a two-day visit to West Bengal.
The flight of the President, who was scheduled to leave at 1905 hours, was delayed by one-and-half-hour.
The reason behind the delay of the flight was that all of Dr Kalam's programmes here started late and he also met some representatives of NGOs and others at the airport.
He was seen off at the airport by Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and senior defence and civil officials.
Besides his first programme at IIT, Kharagpur, the President also attended three functions in the city.
