DGH to appoint independent consultant to assess Reliance's FDP

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) The Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) has decided to appoint a third party consultant to access the hydrocarbon reserves and field development plan (FDP) of Reliance Industries in the Krishna-Godavari (KG) basin.

The move follows questions raised by various political parties within the government about the high development costs, which would impact the government's share of profit.

The DGH is likely to appoint Calgary-based DeGolyer&MacNaughton as a consultant and would be given three months to complete the project, sources said today.

RIL increased estimated development cost to 5.2 billion dollar in bringing to production D-1 and D-3 fields in the KG-D6 block by June 2008. It aims to produce 80 million standard cubic metres per day from the two fields.

The block was awarded to the consortium of RIL holding a 90 per cent interest and Niko Resources with 10 per cent interest, under NELP I round of bidding.
