Delhi-UP Bus secretary-level talks fruitful: Haroon

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) In signs raising hope for the resolution of the six month-long bus dispute between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, talks between Transport secretaries of the two states today to resolve the logjam over the operation of mutual bus services ended on a fruitful note.

Talking to mediapersons after two rounds of parleys between Transport secretaries of the two states here, Delhi Transport Minister Haroon Yousuf said the talks had been fruitful and expressed optimism about the final resolution of the bus dispute between the two states in a few days.

Two rounds of talks were held between the two sides with the state of Uttar Pradesh being represented by its Principal Transport Secretary Pradeep Shukla and the UP State Transport Corporation MD Devdutt while Delhi was represented by its Transport Secretary R Chandramohan and DTC chairman Ansu Prakash.

The coming to power in UP of the Mayawati Government has raised hopes for resolution of the nearly six month-long dispute which began in November last year.

In fact, the Delhi Transport Minister had expressed confidence of resolution of the bus dispute between the two states.

''We are hopeful that unlike the previous Mulayam Singh Government, which had been adopting an intransingent attitude in the matter, the Mayawati Government will take a compassionate view in the matter keeping in view the problems being faced by the commuters.'' More UNI
