BSNL first to provide landline connections in Kolhapur Dist

Kolhapur, May 17 (UNI) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), Kolhapur range has emerged first in Maharashtra to provide the highest number of landline telephone connections in the rural areas of the district during the current year.

Addressing reporters here today, BSNL Kolhapur range general manager Deepak Tayal said they have provided 4,239 landline telephone connections in the rural areas of the district during the current year, which is highest number as compared to other district in the state.

He said efforts were on to provide BSNL service like broad band network facilities in the rural areas in the near future.

Mr Tayal said about 4,000 broad band connections are presently operational in urban areas like Kolhapur city, Ichalkaranji town, which will go up to 6,500 shortly.

The company is working to provide facilities like multi-play broad band in the city till September end this year, he added.
