BSNL AP circle plans to provide 4 lakh broadband connections

Hyderabad, May 17 (UNI) Chief General Manager of the Andhra Pradesh (AP) Telecom Circle in the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) S Ramalingam today said the circle planned to provide four lakh broadband connections for the current financial year (2007-08).

Addressing a press conference here, he said at present, 18,145 broadband connections were working in the state and steps had been taken to provide more connections as per the demand.

He added the circle planned to provide two lakh Wireless Local Loop (WLL) connections for 2007-08. At present, 1,57,009 WLL connections were working in the state.

He said the circle proposed to provide 15 lakh Cellular connections for the year 2007-08 in addition to 18.4 lakh connections operating in the state.

Mr Ramalingam proposed that the circle will establish 433 towers to provide access to remote areas and expand its network. At present, 1775 cell sites existed in the state and it proposed to add another 700 sites during 2007-08.

He said the department had taken all steps to provide quality service to customers and provided its services to every nook and corner of the state by covering 1,126 mandals.
