BMC to hold test on May 30 to recruit teachers
Mumbai, May 17 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s Education Committee will hold a test on May 30 to induct new teachers to fill up vacancies in the junior and senior kindergarten sections.
The new English medium schools that BMC will start from this year onwards will require 149 teachers and the BMC has decided to employ the teachers on a temporary basis on a monthly salary of Rs 5,000 for a period of one year. There is a further requirement of 84 teachers for the first standard. According to BMC officials, around 2000 applications have been received for the various posts.
Education Committee chairman Mangesh Satamkar said, ''The BMC has decided to fill around 768 posts in the BMC schools and the applicants are required to pass the Indian Banking Personal Services (IBPS) examinations.'' The kindergarten teachers should have a pre-primary diploma in Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE).
The BMC has relaxed the requirement for the post of a teacher in English medium schools. Initially, the requirement was D.Ed in English medium, but due to shortage of teachers, the BMC is allowing D.Ed in other medium provided the candidate has completed schooling in English medium. If a candidate has done schooling in a non-English medium school but has done D.Ed in English medium, then also the candidature will be considered.
