Astroturf in ten hockey stadia: Aslam
Betul, MP, May 17 (UNI) Former Olympian Aslam Sher Khan has said that astroturf would be laid at a cost of crores in ten hockey stadia of the country and approval had already been obtained for doing so at Bhopal.
''Five zones were created in India for sports development through the medium of the Sports Authority of India. Jabalpur, Gwalior and Bhopal Hockey Association are part of Central Zone,'' he told mediapersons here yesterday. Khan is the Indian Hockey Federation's Youth Development Programme's Convenor (Central Zone).
He claimed that players from European and other countries were in the lead as they played on astroturf and were provided other facilities.
''If the Betul Municipal Council sends a proposal for laying astroturf at the local Lal Bahadur Stadium, I will make efforts in that direction,'' Khan added.
