Agri. Assistants to Village Panchayats
Dharwad, May 17 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will soon appoint Agriculture Assistants to each Village Panchayat in the State, Minister for Agriculture Bandeppa Kashempur said today.
Inaugurating a broadcasting centre at University of Agriculture Sciences here, he said these consultants would offer suggestions to the farmers on various aspects of agriculture.
He said a land health scheme would be brought in force soon to increase the fertility of land and a high level committee would be formed to check the sale of infertile seeds.
Mr Kashempur said the government proposed to bring in a crop insurance scheme based on central weather centre under which the farmers have to contribute two per cent and both state and centre would take care of Eight per cent equally.
The government also proposed to open broadcasting centres in each district, he added.
