Accenture, MIT launch new training and certification programme

Bangalore, May 17 (UNI) Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, today announced a training programme for its workforce in coordination with the Professional Education Programmes wing of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the top technology university in the world.

Announcing this to newspersons here, Accenture Group Chief Executive (outsourcing) Kevin Campbell and India's leading Executive of delivery centre for technology Sandeep Arora said the Accenture Solutions Delivery Academy, through which the training would be imparted to over 20,000 workforce of the total 1.52 lakh across the globe was aimed at enhancing employees' competitiveness with the focus on educational excellence.

In India, the workforce was expected to cross 35,000 by the end of fiscal 2007 from the present headcount of 27,000. India was likely to get a considerable portion of the training programme and over 4,000 global employees had enrolled for the programme, to be taught in 18 to 24 months free of cost, they explained.

The employees were required to earn their certifications by completing online and classroom course work, applying their knowledge on practical assignments and passing a series of rigorous exams, they added.

They said the employees who successfully complete the programme would be awarded application developer or application designer certifications by Accenture and MIT, recognising software engineering, system integration and application-delivery skills.
