ACB traps two policemen accepting bribe
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, May 17 (UNI) Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths arrested two policemen for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a city resident for not involving him in the case related to arrest of a bar girl from Bangladesh along with her husband.
The Jawahar Colony police recently arrested the bar girl Zaheda and her husband Najml Bilal Pokeer for staying as tenants in the house of Sahebrao Jadhav for the last eight mohths, without legal documents.
The police had also registered a case against the landlord Sahebrao Jadhav. However, the two cops investigating the matter, head constable Kanvarsinh Jadhav and constable Keshav Chauthe, demanded from the landlord a bribe of Rs 50,000. But after bargaining they agreed to accept Rs 10,000 for not involving him in the case, ACB sources said.
The cops had asked Sahebrao to pay the amount near a fast food centre in Ulkanagri last night. Instead, Sahebrao lodged a complaint with the ACB, who laid a trap and arrested them when they were taking the bribe.
The Bangladeshi couple has been booked by the police for violation of Passports Act and Foreigners Act.
