200 explosive trace detectors to be installed at airports

New Delhi, May 17 (UNI) The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will install 200 explosive trace detectors at a cost of Rs 91 crore at all the operating airports in the country, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel informed the Lok Sabha today.

''The detectors will be capable of detecting explosives and narcotics,'' Mr Patel said in a written reply.

X X X PUNJAB AIRPORT: A second international airport will be set up in Punjab.

A site for the civil air terminal has been identified at Halwara Air Force airfield, Mr Patel said.

X X X TELUGU: The Committee of Linguistic Experts is looking into the demand for declaring Telugu as a classical language.

''The recommendations of the Committee are awaited,'' Culture Minister Ambika Soni said.

The demand has been made by the Andhra Pradesh Government and several organisations.
