2 Lankan refugees hospitalised after fast

Kancheepuram, May 17 (UNI) Two Sri Lankan refugees at the Chengalpattu Camp here were hospitalised today after their health deteriorated following a fast undertaken along with 13 others in a bid to return to the island nation.

Police sources here said the camp held as many as 41 Lankan refugees accused of various crimes including smuggling. The 15 refugees began a fast on May 15 seeking to return to their homeland.

On information, the police rushed to the camp and pacified the agitators.

Nixon (27) and Nirmalan (26) whose health had deteriorated were shifted to the government hospital at Chengalpattu for treatment.
