16 people die of sunstroke in AP Dist
Machilipatnam, May 17 (UNI) Sixteen people died of sunstroke in several parts of the Krishna district in the past several days due to continuing severe heat wave conditions.
Most of the sunstroke victims were from poor families and old persons. The death toll could increase as the heatwave is likely to continue for a few more days.
The district authorities issued a warning to the people to remain indoors, especially in the afternoons and consume plenty of water to protect themselves from the sunstroke.
The heat wave was due to winds blowing over the coastal areas from the desert in Northwestern India, the Met sources said.
