15 years RI for possessing cannabis in HP
Shimla, May 17 (UNI) A local court today sentenced a person to 15 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) and slapped a fine of Rs 1.50 lakh for possessing three kg of cannabis.
Sanjay Kanwar, a resident of Rajgarh in Sirmour district, was arrested by the Chopal Police on October 19, 2006, while he was on his way to Vikasnagar in Uttarakhand to sell it there.
The court, in its order, said the accused would have to undergo another two years in jail on failing to pay the fine.
The court had on Friday sentenced a Nepalese, Sunil Kumar, to 10 years RI and fine of Rs one lakh for possessing cannabis.
