11 pilgrims injuried in accident

Tirumala, May 17 (UNI) Eleven pilgrims, including eight from Maharashtra were injured, one of them critically when a jeep in which they were travelling hit a parapet wall on the second Tirumala Ghat road here today.

Police said, the mishap occurred when the jeep, in which had eight people belonging to one family from Nandyal in Maharashtra, two from Nizamabad and one from Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh negotiated a sharp curve while proceeding to Tirumala from Tirupati.

The driver lost control as he was overspeeding.

The injured were admitted to government Ruia hospital in Tirupati, police added.
