Youth Congress constitutes Human Rights Department

New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) The Indian Youth Congress (IYC), the youth wing of the Congress Party, today floated a new "Human Rights Department" with young leader Sajeev Joseph as its first Chairman.

IYC General Secretary Manick Tagoore said here today that the Department would also have a Convener for its effective functioning.

The main brief of the Department is to go into human rights violations throughout the country and bring them to the notice of the Party, central and state governments and the National Human Rights Commission.

Mr Joseph is currently the President of the Youth Congress in Kannur district of Kerala.

An advocate by profession, Mr Joseph was the Congress candidate in Kotthuparamba assembly constituency in the last election in Kerala.
