VSNL to add 1000 spots to enhance Wi-Fi service

Mumbai, May 16: In a bid to capture the growing customer base on the wireless domain, Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) today announced that it plans to add 1000 more hotspots to enhance its Wi-Fi service in India.

At present the telecom major has 250 hotspots across the country in major locations including the domestic and international airports, leading premium Star hotels, educational institutions, sports stadia, hospitals, chain of restaurants and coffee shops. It has other non-traditional locations like mobile stores, IT stores and railway stations.

Its partners include companies like Taj Group of Hotels, Le Meridien, Cafe Coffee Day, Barista, Manipal University and Wockhardt.

VSNL is also a member of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), a global consortium of network Wi-Fi service providers. The Company has plans to enable international roaming for business travellers by leveraging the alliance.
