Unbearable heat torments residents of Krishna district

Machilipatnam, May 16 (UNI) The entire coastal districts, including Krishna district were under the grip of heat wave conditions today.

The sources said the death toll due to sun stroke had gone up to 12 in the district alone. 1000 people were admitted to various hospitals in the district.

Mchilipatnam recorded the highest temperature so far. The mercury went up to 45.1 deg C and the minimum temperature today was 30.1 deg C, an official spokesman said here.

The unbearable heat will continue to torment people for another four days.

In the last five days about 1.5 lakh poultry birds succumbed to heat, the spokesman added.
