Tata Teleservices clocks a net profit of 131 crore

Mumbai, May 16 (UNI) Tata Teleservices Limited posted a net profit of Rs 131 crore for the financial year 2006-07.

Overall revenue of the company grew by 30 per cent as compared to the previous year.

In its fourth year of operation in telecom domain of fixed and mobile services, the subscriber base of the company crossed three million during the last fiscal. Subscriber base grew by 167 percent during the last fiscal.

The Company recorded Average Revenue Per User for the year 2006-07 at Rs 340. In the enteprise segment in telecom omain, the company recorded a maximum growth of 42 percent.

Tata Teleservices has operation in two telecom circles, Maharasthra and Goa, and has presence in 400 towns and plans to increase the same by adding 200 more towns in the current fiscal.

Addressing the mediapersons after announcing the results, Charles Antony, Managing Director of the compnay, said ''Overall growth of the company is the result of operational cost efficency and the coming year. we will be much more focussed on providing customers with quality service.'' The company lost out 25 thousand subscribers on the recent addresss reverfication drive carried out by Department of Telecommunications.

The company plans to invest a capex amount of approx Rs 500 crore for the current financial year.

''The main focus of investment during the fiscal will be on the enterprise segment in Maharashtra because we are deriving maximum growth from the segment'', added Mr. Antony.
