Sikh organisations take out processions against Sachha Sauda
Amritsar, May 16 (UNI) Activists of some Sikh organisations took out processions in the city today, protesting against the activities of Dera Sacha Sauda.
The protestors, many of them wielding swords, went through different maarkets and forced closure of shops in the Hall Bazar, Golden Temple and commercial areas. They were accompanied by police personnel.
Few Sikh-run educational institutions were also closed in the city.However, banks and other institutions were functioning normally.
SSP Vijay Pratap Singh said no report of any untoward incident was received from anywhere in the city, so far. Peace and law and order would be maintained at all costs, he added.
Police was patrolling the area and thousands of devotees visited the Golden Temple on the occasion of ''Amavasya''.
The protest by various Sikh organisations here was to oppose the act of Dera Sacha Sauda's head, for allegedly posing as Guru Gobind Singh.
