Sikh org takes processions against Sachha Sauda
Amritsar, May 16: Activists of some sikh organisations took out processions in the city today, protesting against the activities of Dera Sachcha Sauda.
The protestors, many of them weilding swords, went through different bazars and forced closure of shops in the Hall Bazar and Golden Temple and commercial areas. The processionists were accompanied by police personnel.
Few sikh-run educational institutions were also closed in the city.However, banks and other institutions were functioning normally.
SSP Vijay Pratap Singh said no report of any untoward incident was received from anywhere from the city so far. He said that peace and law and order would be maintained at all costs.
Police was patrolling the area and thsousands of people visited the Golden Temple on the occasion of "Amavasya".
The protest by various Sikh organisations here was to oppose Dera Sachcha Sauda head for allegedly posing as Guru Gobind Singh.
