Police guns down wanted criminal

Lucknow, May 16 (UNI) Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police today gunned down a criminal in Harchandpur area of Rae Bareli district in Uttar Pradesh.

The slain criminal was identified as Santosh Pandey, who was carrying a reward of Rs 20,000 on his head.

A carbine and cartridges were recovered from the encounter spot.

Santosh had killed two police constables escorting an undertrial back to Pratapgarh jail aboard a train after a court hearing.

Meanwhile, a case had been registered.
