One shot, dacoits loot houses

Barasat, May 16 (UNI) A man was shot dead by some miscreants at Khoddar village under Hasnabad police station in North 24 Parganas last night, police said here today.

Police said the miscreants killed the victim as he raised an alarm while they were trying to loot fish from a pond.

Police said the victim died on spot and his body have been sent for postmortem.

Police said investigation was on to nab the miscreants who soon fled after committing the crime.

Meanwhile, an armed gang of about 15 miscreants looted four houses at an isolated place in Ichhapur Purva para under Gaighata police station in the district late last night.

They Rs 30,000 in cash and at least 80 grams of gold ornaments.

No casualty has been reported from the incident, police said.
