Officials should resolve forest land encrochment issue in 3 month:CM

Bangalore, May 16 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today suggested formation of a Committee comprising top bureaucrats of five departments to study in detail the encroachment of forest land issue and submit to him a report within three months.

Addressing senior officials of various departments here after discussing the problem with the people's representatives, he said the problem persisted in several districts including Shimoga, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Kodagu and Chikmaglur. He exhorted the officials to wake up from a slumber and work for the progress of the people. Under any circumstances, the time limit for the preparation of a comprehensive report would not be extended, he warned.

According to details available with the state government, the total encroachment of forest land in the state was around 28,000 hectares.
