New Ship Handling Simulator inagurated in Kochi
Kochi, May 16 (UNI) A new state-of-the-art Ship Handling Simulator, which incorportes a ship's bridge, radar displays, electronic chart display system, various shipboard navigation and propulsion systems and an interactive instructor console, were formally inaugurated at the Southern Naval command here.
Southern Naval Command's Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Vice Admiral Jagjit Singh Bedi inaugurated the simulator, which would enable trainees to practice the art of ship handling in different scenarios and enviornmental conditions in open sea, within harbours and in restricted sea areas.
This facility would be extensively used to train specialist navigators, foreign student officers and junior officers undergoing bascis training. It would further enhance the stature of the Indian Navy and also provide high quality professional training not only to Indian Navy personnel but also to personnel from the Indian Coast Guard, friendly foreign navies and maritime security agencies.
