Murugavel Janakiraman Appointed IAMAI Chairman
Mumbai, May 16 (UNI) The Governing Council of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has appointed Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder and CEO of Bharatmatrimony.com, as Chairman of the association for the financial year 2007-08.
Murugavel is founder of popular online brands as Clickjobs.com, Indiaproperty.com, Indiaautomobile.com among others. He takes over from Anupam Mittal, Chairman, People Group.
IAMAI also announced the appointment of Jaspreet Bindra, Country Manager, MSN &Windows Live as the Vice Chairman of the association.
Jaspreet takes over from Avnish Bajaj, Founder of baazee.com and currently Founding Managing Partner, Matrix Partners.
Upen Roop Rai, Director, Times Internet, is the new Treasurer of the association.
Murugavel said ''Building on the achievements of last year, we would like to focus on four areas:- making the association more broad based and representative, reaching out to government and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth growth of the industry, training programme to encourage the younger generation to join this industry&encouraging and supporting new entrepreneurs.
Commenting on his appointment as Vice Chairman of the association, Jaspreet Bindra said, ''Representing the fastest growing industry segments like Internet and Mobile value added services was a great challenge and IAMAI was well prepared to take up the challenge''.
The association also announced that Dr.Subho Ray would continue to be President of the association.
Founded in January 2004 by leading portals in India, IAMAI is the only specialized industry body in India representing the interests of online and mobile value added services industry.
(IAMAI) is a not-for-profit industry body registered under the Societies Act, 1896. Its mandate is to expand and enhance the online and mobile value added services sectors.
The association addresses the issues, concerns and challenges of the Internet and Mobile economy and takes a leading role in its development.
