Monica Bedi questioned in court

Bhopal, May 16 (UNI) A local court today witnessed the questioning of underworld don Abu Salem's starlet-girlfriend Monica Bedi who is among those accused in a fake passports case.

Monica was asked about 300 questions in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravindra Singh. The questioning began at 1300 hrs and went on until 1700 hrs. Co-accused Kabir's statement was also recorded. May 30 was set as the next date of hearing.

Two applications by the defence urged that accused-turned-government witness Shiraz and another witness O P Chhatwal be presented for cross-examination besides the presenting, for the second time, of four witnesses for the defence.

On November 28, 2001, a case was registered at the Koh-i-Fiza Police Station against Salem, his wife Samira Jumani and Monica for having fake passports made at the regional passport office using the names Danish Baig, Rubina Baig and Fauzia Osman respectively.
