Modi invites South Korean experts to Gujarat

Gandhinagar, May 16 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi today invited Korean companies to set up their manufacturing units in eight ultra mega industrial regions on the north-south belt of Gujarat, which is a part of the ambitious Delhi-Mumbai multi-modal dedicated freight corridor.

Leading the first high-level business delegation from Gujarat, Mr Modi addressed top businessmen and industrialists from Korea in an investment promotion seminar organised by Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul, on his first day of the Korean tour, an official release said here.

''We can create global wonders if Gujarat and Korea join hands by deploying technology and capital investment on this potential corridor,'' he said.

Mr Modi said that Korea and Gujarat have synergy of collective prosperity. Both take pride in their 5,000 years old ancient civilisation and maritime trade. Korea had successfully adopted an export-oriented economic development and drawing inspiration from it, Gujarat wants to revive ancient maritimes trade strength in the context of 21st century globalisation, he said.

''Gujarat is also committed to establishing a solid manufacturing base, a strong IT infrastructure and sound logistics infrastrucutre as seen in Korea,'' he said.

Chief Secretary Sudhir Mankad made a presentation on investment environment in Gujarat. Indian ambassador to Korea, N Parthsarthi, on the occasion, said Gujarat is the most progressive State and it offers best opportunities for investment in India.

Earlier KCCI chairman Kim Young Tae, while welcoming chief minister and the delegation, said Gujarat was a fast growing State in the Asian region and Korean companies have identified high growth potentials in Gujarat.
