Mayawati directs DMs to take immediate measures to control suicides

Lucknow, May 16 (UNI) Newly-elected Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has warned that respective District Magistrates would be directly held responsible for poverty-driven suicides in the state.

The CM has directed the DMs to take urgent measures for the financial emancipation of poverty-ridden people, so that such suicides could be controlled.

The underlying causes be identified and appropriate schemes prepared and implemented, that such sad incidents do not occur, she said.

Ms Mayawati has also directed for similar measures at the government level.
