Large number of electronic gadgets recovered from Chhapra jail

Chhapra, May 16 (UNI) Police today recovered at least 11 mobile phones and several other electronic gadgets, cash and other valuables from some prison cells.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) and Bihar Armed Police raided the jail premises this morning and seized 11 mobile phones, two CD players, one stabiliser, 15 CDs, six kerosene stoves, 50 litres of kerosene and a huge amount of cash besides some liquor bottles.

While one mobile phone was recovred from the possession of former MLA from Madhaura Surendar Sharma, two cell phones were seized from the son of Raghunathpur MLA of the ruling JD (U) Jagmato Devi.

Incidentally, in a similar surprise raid in the Siwan Jail late last night four mobile phones and other gadgets were recovered from the possession of incarcerated RJD MP Mohammad Sahabuddin and his accomplices creating a sensation in the state.

Several previous attempts to seize them had proved futile despite the authorities having definite information in the matter.
