Jammu, May 16 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has urged contracters to construct roads on a war footing in double shifts and complete them within the stipulated timeframe so that the public does not face any inconvenience.

In order to provide regular traffic, Minister for Roads and Building Gulchain Singh Charak today inspected the ongoing construction work of the Janipur-Ambghrota, Bishnah, Dabbered, Prithipur and Vijaypur main roads.

Mr Charak asked the engineers to repair city, main, and rural areas roads on a war footing basis. The present government has been making concerted efforts to connect every village of three regions of the state with the towns and city, he added.

While directing engineers to speed up construction and upgradation work on all the road projects taken in different schemes before the rainy season, the minister said, ''there will be no compromise on the quality of work and any lapse in this regard shall be dealt with stern action being taken against the executing agencies.''
