Bangalore, May 16 (UNI) Coalition partner Janata Dal (Secular) fielding its own candidate in the June two byelection to Ullal Assembly seat will not affect the prospects of the Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP State President Sadananda Gouda said today.

Reacting to the last minute decision of the JD(S) to reject BJP's appeal for support in the bypoll and field its own candidate, he told UNI here that ''it will not hamper the chances of BJP candidate Chandrashekhar Uchil.'' Mr Gouda said Mr Uchil had lost the 2004 elections by a narrow margin and this time he had a bright chance. Many BJP leaders who had deserted the party in the last elections have returned and were working for the success of the party candidate, he added.
