Haryana to strengthen Progressive Farmers' Clubs

Chandigarh, May 16 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to strengthen the Progressive Farmers' Clubs so that these could serve as an effective tool in the dissemination of latest and advanced agriculture technology to the farmers.

These clubs would also help the farmers in the upgradation of their skills so as to maximise their crop productivity, a spokesman for the Agriculture Department said today.

The clubs would be strengthened under a newly launched scheme "Strengthening of Capacity building of Pragatisheel Kisan Clubs" for which a budget provision of Rs 32 lakh had been made for the current financial year.

He said financial assistance would be given to these clubs so that they could discuss their farm and cultivation related problems with each other and solve these kinds of problems at their own level.

The spokesman said the Pragatesheel Kisan Clubs had been constituted in the state to discuss the problems of the farmers and provide solutions. These clubs were playing a crucial role in the dissemination of advanced agricultural technology to the farming community.
