Haryana to spend Rs 2.55 cr for labour welfare schemes

Chandigarh, May 16 (UNI) Haryana Labour Welfare Board would spend Rs 2.55 crore on the welfare schemes for labourers of the state during the current financial year.

Haryana Labour and Employment Minister Birender Singh said out of this allocation, a sum of Rs one crore would be earmarked for giving scholarships to the children of the labourers as compared to Rs 72.94 lakh spent for the purpose during the last financial year.

Giving details of other allocations made during the current financial year, Mr Singh said the Board would spend Rs 13 lakh for setting up of labour welfare centres, Rs 20 lakh for providing financial assistance to the widows and dependents of deceased industrial workers, Rs three lakh for undertaking excursion-cum-study tours and Rs five lakh for giving cash awards to the outstanding children of the labourers.

Similarly, a sum of Rs 25 lakh had also been earmarked for providing computer education, Rs 20 lakh as financial assistance for marriages of daughters of the industrial workers and Rs 20 lakh as grant-in-aid to the non-government labour organisations engaged in welfare activities of the labourers.
