Gov announces Engineering College in Dimapur
Kohima, May 16: Nagaland Governor K Sankaranarayanan has announced his plans for an Engineering College to be set up in Dimapur this year.
He has also assured that all branches of education would be set up in Nagaland within the next five years.
Interacting with the HSLC and HSSLC toppers at Raj Bhavan here yesterday, the Governor announced the first ever Engineering College in the state and encouraged students to level up to international standards, especially in the field of information technology.
Expressing concern over the huge expenditure for the education of students studying outside Nagaland, the Governor said Nagaland needs professional institutes.
''Naga students are capable of holding positions even in the metros, he added.
He, however, lamented that 70 per cent of teachers in the state are not trained and felt that the teachers should be trained in all the sectors to exhibit a ''silver lining'' in the educational system of Nagaland.
