Government urged to ensure availability of essentials

Imphal, May 16 (UNI) Cutting across party lines the members of the Manipur Assembly today appealed to the O Ibobi Singh government to ensure that the essential commodities were made available to the people.

Participating in a discussion on demands for grants, Y Erabot of the Congress said the government has succumbed to the pressure of the militants, hence the essential items like rice and kerosene were not available.

The government should ensure that the schemes meant for the tribals were available to these tribals settled in the valley areas, he added.

O Joy of the Manipur People's Party said the government officials should not be involved in contract works.
