Factionalism prevails in MP Cong: Subhash Yadav

Bhopal, May 16 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Congress President Subhash Yadav today admitted that factionalism prevailed in his party but claimed it was under control.

He told UNI here that no political party was free from groupism and the Congress was not an exception. However, it was fully under control.

He said, ''he would write a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi urging her to direct all senior party leaders to give message of unity from one stage.'' Recently, the Congress central leadership had directed all the party leaders to take permission from the party before taking out a rally.

The direction was issued because of reported political rivalry between Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh and party MP Jyotiraditya Scindia.

On speculations of his being removed as MPCC president, he said it was not unnatural in politics. However, he did not want to join issue with other leaders.

On the formation of state Congress executive being pending since the past two years, Mr Yadav said he was not the authorised person to comment over the matter but the announcement in this regard was expected within one month.

He said an intensive training campaign for party workers at block levels would be carried out between May 16 and June 30.

He said lack of coordination between party workers was seen as the cause of poor performance of the party in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

He underlined the importance of party workers, especially at booth level during elections.

He trashed allegations that the Congress had failed to discharge the role of an effective opposition in the state.

He said, ''the BJP had made several mistakes and the party had benefitted from it.'' The Congress leader said farmers were facing problems of quality manure and proper irrigation facilities but no one was ready to hear them.

He added that the party had been raising these issues through statewide agitation regularly.
