EC Railway officials sent to jail on bribery charges

Patna, May 16 (UNI) Special CBI judge of Patna Ram Shresht Rai today remanded a Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer and a senior Divisional Engineer of East Central Railway (ECR) to judicial custody in a bribery case.

The two were produced before the designated judge by the CBI officials after their arrest and the judge sent them to judicial custody till May 29.

The investigating agency has accused the accused of demanding Rs 1.25 lakh from a Patna-based travel agency to clear tender.

The CBI sleuths arrested the accused near the DRM office, Danapur, while accepting the bribe from the complainant yesterday.
